The Divine Will Pilgrimage Package is a two-day Catholic journey through Puglia, bringing together St Michael’s Cave in Monte Sant’Angelo, the places of Padre Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo and the life of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta in Corato. Begin with a reflection on obedience, continue with surrender to God and conclude in Corato on Day 2 with an introduction to life in the Divine Will.

Across three guided visits, you will encounter sacred places, hear the stories behind them and have time for personal prayer. The programme includes approximately nine hours of guided visits over two consecutive days. It starts in Monte Sant’Angelo at 09:00 on Day 1 and finishes in Corato at approximately 12:30 on Day 2, with a proposed overnight stay in San Giovanni Rotondo.

Small-group prices: €175 per adult aged 16+, €165 with valid student ID and €90 per child under 16. The package runs with a minimum of two paying guests and a maximum of eight. It includes the three guided visits over two days. Transport, accommodation, meals and separately charged venue services are excluded. The Divine Will pilgrimage package brings three distinct visits into one prayerful journey. At Monte Sant’Angelo, St Michael’s fidelity provides the starting point for considering our response to God. In San Giovanni Rotondo, Padre Pio’s priestly life invites reflection on prayer, sacrifice, charity and trust. Corato then provides the setting for discovering Luisa Piccarreta’s life and the spirituality associated with her writings.

These themes help connect each place with daily Christian life. You do not need to have studied Luisa’s writings to take part: the guide introduces the subject in accessible language, alongside the Catholic setting of each visit. The connection between the three stages is the pilgrimage’s organising theme; it does not imply that Padre Pio formally endorsed Luisa’s writings.

Day 1: St Michael’s Cave and Padre Pio

09:00–11:30 — Monte Sant’Angelo and St Michael’s Cave

Meet outside the Sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo at 08:45, ready for the 09:00 start. Begin with an introduction to the sanctuary and a walk through the surrounding pilgrim town. Your guide explains the traditional association of the grotto with St Michael before you descend for a quiet visit. Commentary follows the sanctuary’s directions, with prayer taking priority inside the worship area.

This 2-hour-30-minute visit includes the historic lanes, the approach to the grotto and a concluding reflection on humility and obedience. The sanctuary is part of the UNESCO World Heritage property of the Longobards in Italy. Its museums and the town’s castle are outside this itinerary.

11:30–13:15 — Transfer and lunch

Allow this interval for the road transfer to San Giovanni Rotondo and a lunch break before the afternoon visit. The transfer must be arranged in advance; it is separate from the guiding service. Collection details and the final travel time depend on the confirmed transport arrangement.

13:30–17:00 — Padre Pio pilgrimage in San Giovanni Rotondo

Begin at Santa Maria delle Grazie and discover the setting of Padre Pio’s priestly life. Follow the friary route open to visitors, including his cell and the area associated with the crucifix of the stigmata where accessible. Continue to the newer Church of St Pio and the place where his remains are venerated, allowing for queues and local restrictions.

The 3-hour-30-minute visit includes a comfort break and personal prayer. The story of Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza introduces Padre Pio’s care for those who suffered; the programme does not include a visit inside the hospital. Finish with a reflection on surrender to God before an evening at your own pace.

Overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo

We suggest staying near the shrine to make the evening and early departure easier. Accommodation and dinner are separate. Pilgrims who wish to attend Mass, confession or evening prayer can consult the sanctuary’s current programme. Participation follows local availability; a priest or private liturgy is not included.

Day 2: Corato, Luisa Piccarreta and the Divine Will

Early morning — Travel from San Giovanni Rotondo to Corato

Provisionally reserve 07:00–09:15 for travel and arrival, ready for the Corato tour at 09:30. The driver confirms the actual collection time and route once the hotel and travel arrangements are known. Agree luggage storage before departure if you are checking out that morning.

09:30–12:30 — Luisa Piccarreta’s Corato

Meet outside Santa Maria Greca for an introduction to Luisa’s life and time at the church where she is buried. The proposed itinerary then includes an appointment at the Association’s Casa Museo, followed by a walk through the historic centre, the Mother Church exterior and a concluding reflection. The suggested museum appointment is 10:15–11:15 within the wider three-hour tour.

The Luisa Piccarreta Association requires advance contact to confirm a group visit. Museum access is therefore subject to an agreed appointment. If it cannot be arranged, we will discuss a different date or a clearly described alternative before you confirm the pilgrimage.

Luisa is presented as a Servant of God, whose cause of beatification remains in progress. The visit distinguishes her life and the spirituality associated with her from a declaration of sainthood or blanket approval of every interpretation of her writings. The Association’s communication on the cause provides further context.

The Divine Will pilgrimage package finishes in Corato at approximately 12:30. Lunch, airport or railway transfers and any onward stay are separate. This itinerary ends in Corato and does not include a return journey to Monte Sant’Angelo or San Giovanni Rotondo.

Services priced separately

Inter-town transport, airport and station transfers, accommodation, meals, parking, personal donations and any separately charged museum or Association services are excluded from the guiding price. A complete travel arrangement can be considered through a suitable travel partner, subject to a written quotation identifying the organiser and inclusions. The advertised guiding price does not include a transport supplier or hotel.

Dates, meeting point and walking conditions

Book at least 14 days ahead. Departures start at 09:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, following a Tuesday–Wednesday or Thursday–Friday programme with Corato on Day 2. Small groups require at least two paying guests and are limited to eight. Check the live calendar for available dates. Access and the Corato museum appointment remain subject to confirmation, and any agreed timetable adjustments are confirmed before booking.

The Day 1 meeting point is the upper forecourt outside the main sanctuary entrance on Via Reale Basilica, Monte Sant’Angelo, Puglia, Italy. Arrive at 08:45 for the 09:00 start. The route involves walking, steps, slopes and uneven streets. Wear comfortable shoes and church-appropriate clothing, and tell us about mobility needs so access can be checked before you commit.

Yes. The programme introduces its themes through the places visited and gives room for questions and reflection. It suits pilgrims seeking a Catholic introduction to Luisa’s life as well as those who already know her story.

Does Corato take place on the second day?

Yes. This departure sequence visits St Michael and Padre Pio on Day 1, stays overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo and concludes with Luisa Piccarreta’s Corato on Day 2. Any future departure with a different order would have its own clearly stated timetable.

How much does the Divine Will pilgrimage package cost?

The full two-day small-group guiding package costs €175 per adult aged 16+, €165 with valid student ID and €90 per child under 16, with a minimum of two paying guests and a maximum of eight. Private departures have a separate group price shown in the booking summary. Transport, accommodation, meals and separately charged venue services are excluded; any optional arrangement must be quoted and expressly included in your booking.

Can we attend Mass during the pilgrimage?

There is time for personal prayer, and the proposed overnight stay offers an opportunity to attend the shrine’s public worship when available. Tell us if Mass is a priority so the programme can be considered around the published liturgies. Private Mass, confession appointments and a priest accompanying the group are not included.
