St Sebastian Basilica with Catacombs – One of the 7 Pilgrim Churches of Rome
The Basilica of St Sebastian (Basilica di San Sebastiano) is one of the famous 7 Pilgrim Churches of Rome made famous by St Philip Neri. One of the most important churches of Christendom, this is a profound experience for those on pilgrimage to Rome, especially during the Jubilee Year.
As the title suggests, our Basilica of Sebastian and Catacombs Tour includes not only St Sebastian’s Basilica, but also travels down below ground into the ancient Catacombs of St Sebastian under the basilica.
By doing the St Sebastian Basilica with Catacombs Tour during the 2025 Jubilee Year, you will also have the opportunity to earn a special plenary indulgence given by the Vatican to the 7 Pilgrim Churches under the usual conditions.
This St Sebastian Basilica with Catacombs Tour describes the life and death of St Sebastian – one of the most important and famous of the Roman Martyrs – and you will also learn about the history of how his body came to be buried in the Catacombs of St Sebastian below. In the Catacombs hidden below the Basilica you can marvel at the earliest Christian graves, including the tomb of St Sebastian, and even explore the place where the skull relics of Sts Peter & Paul once rested.
After you return to the surface, your expert Catholic guide will then entertain you with the great religious and historic significance of the Basilica including showing you ancient papal inscriptions, allowing you to venerate significant relics of martyrs and even show you miraculous footprints of Jesus!
Of course this St Sebastian Basilica with Catacombs Tour also allows you to pray before the tomb of St Sebastian containing his holy relics and your guide will also explain the amazing miracles that have happened there.
